Tiger is Back!

Tiger is BACK!! Well sort of. Tiger had an early exit in this weeks WGC Match Play, but he has brought golf back to the front page of everyone's mind. The buzz that Tiger creates just by playing is great for the PGA Tour and golf as a whole. We are planning on opening our course at the end of March or early April. See you all soon.

Another Great Season

This week Shawnee's historic golf bridge was once again removed for the winter. This means that our golf season is temporarily over for the upcoming months. Now is a great time to take a big step back from this season and think about what you could have done to make your game better.

Become more healthful in the winter months. Join a gym, get spa treatments, attend yoga classes to improve flexibility.

This season brought our best course condition ever! Our grounds staff have never been better.

Stay safe, and we'll see you again in the early spring.

Tuesday was Shawnee annual group leaders outing. Everyone who has helped make 2008 such a successful year for Shawnee and was the leader of a large group is present in this picture.

The Shawnee Open

The Shawnee Open is back at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort Monday and Tuesday the 8th and 9th of September. The Shawnee Open is a Professional tournament for members of the Philadelphia Section PGA. Spectators are welcome and there is no admission charge.

September is my favorite time to play golf. The humidity is gone, the weather starts to cool ever so much and the course is in the best condition. This season our aeration was very non-disruptive, we used very small aeration tines and the greens have already healed 90%. Visit Shawnee where we provide exceptional service, to every guest, at every opportunity.

Pro-Am

Last week Shawnee hosted our annual Pocono Pro-Am. The Pro-Am tournament is a local professional event paired with three amateurs. Prizes are paid out for individual low professionals, low senior professionals, team low gross and low net. This year was a Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort sweep. Our Director of Instruction, Jim Miller low professional (68) finished first and one of our assistant pro's Brian Bergstol scored a (69) placing second. In the team division Brian's team was first low gross and Jimmy's team was second.

Junior Camps

The Nike Junior Golf Camp is being hosted at The Shawnee Inn this week. Junior golf camps are for young golfers age 10 to 17 and are resident camps. The students get professional instruction at our state of the art practice facility and play our championship golf course daily. Nike golf camps and our very own Tillinghast Junior golf camps are held various weeks during the summer. Check out our website over the winter for 2009 dates.

Hit the Green with the Family

August is a great month to get out an play golf with the family. Our twilight rates after 4:30 pm are $25 weekday and $35 on the weekends. If you do not have a full four hours to devote to golf then your best option is to play the Approach Course. Our Approach Course is located to your left as you enter the property and you can register to play this 9 hole course at the Red Brick building. The Approach Course is open 7 days a week 6 pm to 11pm and no tee times are taken (first come, first served).

Shawnee's Golf Course is in the best shape it has been in years. Our conversion to bent grass fairways is fully underway and the change is becoming quite noticeable. We have added seed and soil containers to our golf cars to help our guest keep the golf course looking great. If you have golfed or visited Shawnee in the past few months you may have noticed new landscaping around the property especially at the front of the Inn. We will continue to upgrade our property to serve our guests better.

Develop a concise pre-shot routine for every golf shot. A routine will help your mind and body better execute the shot you are attempting.
